Throughout 2020 and 2021 seasons AWL DC Rowing programs will be closely following COVID-19 safety guidelines implemented by the Anacostia Community Boathouse (ACBA) and DC Strokes developed in consultation with ACBA members, guidance from USRowing, the DC Harbor Patrol, and the orders from Mayor Bowser and other DC officials.

  • 2021 Update: Our 2020-2021 AWL Winter Rowing & Fitness programs will offer a combination of virtual and in-person training following the latest COVID safety protocols.
  • July 2020 Update: With the Phase 2 Reopening of Anacostia Community Boathouse with AWL Rowing Single Household Sculling weekly sessions to begin Sundays early July for team members with intellectual impairment. Our goal is to begin bi-weekly AWL Veteran Leaders sessions beginning July 15th alternating with Power Lifting at I-Step (details will be emailed to the Team).
  • June 2020 Update: Anacostica Community Boathouse begins Phase 1B of re-eopening June 15th, with limited private, club boat single users and approved small boat coached programs (single or ‘single household’ double).
  • May 2020 Update: AWL DC Rowing is hosting a Tri-Team Military Challenge Virtual Event for  Veteran rowers from AWL, Community Rowing and Row New York. The June 2020 Stonewall Regatta has been cancelled.
  • March 2020: Below is a summary of closures and event cancellations affecting AWL DC programs in order to help prevent further spread of coronavirus disease COVID-19. We will continue to reach out to team members directly as the situation evolves and are working on ways to help with at-home fitness until practices and events resume.
    • AWL DC Strokes / Veterans Leaders Rowing Team/Winter F.I.T.  athletes and families were alerted by email earlier this month that all team training and travel has been suspended until further notice.
    • Anacostia Community Boathouse is closed for group activities.
    • The April 4-5 San Diego Crew Classic has been cancelled as is the AWL Veteran Leaders /Freedom Rows trip to the event. Read the announcement.
