Throughout 2020 and 2021 seasons AWL DC Rowing programs will be closely following COVID-19 safety guidelines implemented by the Anacostia Community Boathouse (ACBA) and DC Strokes developed in consultation with ACBA members, guidance from USRowing, the DC Harbor Patrol, and the orders from Mayor Bowser and other DC officials.


With our Winter Fit season wrapped up we look forward to 2021 Summer/Fall training and racing!
Athletes Without Limits integrated DC Rowing Programs remain underway with COVID safety protocols offering a combination of virtual and in-person winter erg and fitness training for athletes with intellectual impairment, Veteran Leaders/Freemdom Rows and more. This unique season we’ve also got Zoom social activities and “Sunday Fundays” through our partnership with Adaptation Athletics. Travel or virtual participation to races and events will be posted as those events  are confirmed viable and safe for athletes and staff. Each year we offer two seasons:
November 2020 thru April 2021: DC WINTER FIT ROWING
May 2021 thru October 20201: SUMMER/FALL ROWING
Programs are based out of the Anacostia Community Boathouse in Washington DC and through our partnership with DC Strokes Rowing. Interested athletes with intellectual impairment or disabled Veterans can use our contact form to reach out!


The World Rowing Indoor Championships (WRICH) are held annually, typically near the end of February. The 2021 World Rowing Indoor Championships, presented by Concept2, will be held virtually.

Athletes Without Limits the host of one of four 2021 USRowing Coastal Rowing Development Camps in Colonial Beach, VA. The camps are intended to introduce experienced rowers to the world of coastal rowing, with the added goal of helping to identify athletes for USRowing’s upcoming 2021 Beach Sprints National Team Trials scheduled for June 19 in Sarasota, Fla. 2023 Virtus Global Games Logo

Virtus has announced that the sixth edition of the Global Games will be held in Vichy, France from June 4-10, 2023. The Global Games is world’s largest elite sports event for athletes with an intellectual impairment. Athletes from Europe, America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania will perform across ten main sports including indoor and on-water rowing. Information about eligibility and qualification for Athletes Without Limits US Team will be posted on the AWL National website.
