ABOUT: The DC Strokes Rowing Club has held a Masters sprint regatta for 28 years. For the past two years we have held virtual events but we are excited to be holding an on the water event this year. Join us June 5, 2022 for a great day of rowing!  Every summer, rowers and spectators from around the greater Washington DC area, nation, and globe gather in Washington, DC for the Stonewall Regatta, hosted by the DC Strokes Rowing Club (DCSRC). Stonewall is the only regatta in North America hosted by a Gay & Lesbian rowing team. The regatta is named in honor of the Stonewall Uprising in Greenwich Village in 1969, which is considered the start of the gay civil rights movement. The event promotes true sportsmanship in an open and inclusive environment, created not only by the participants themselves, but also by the event sponsors and volunteers. The regatta also kicks off the circuit of adult sprint race competitions in the mid-Atlantic region and draws serious rowers of all stripes from throughout the area.”

ONE TEAM! NO LIMITS!
Athletes Without Limits Rowing is a program dedicated to unlocking potential through unity and inclusion in rowing. AWLRowing takes a three-pronged approach enriching the lives of athletes and the sport itself:

  • AWL IDD ROWING: The first is by providing a safe space for athletes with intellectual or developmental disabilities to be themselves, grow, and improve their overall well-being both mentally and physically.

  • AWL YOUTH ROWING: The second is by making the sport accessible to athletes in socio-economic circumstances that would otherwise prevent them from participating, and showing them that there are no limits to what they can achieve.

  • AWL VETERAN LEADERS: The third part of AWL Rowing’s approach is to provide military Veterans with disabilities with the resources, equipment, and guidance they need to find success, strength, and camaraderie in the rowing community.

Our flagship AWL DC-MD-VA Rowing Program is based out of the Anacostia Community Boathouse in Washington DC year round with programming that is based on two seasons (WINTER/FALL NOV-APR and SPRING/SUMMER MAY-OCT).

Note: There may be opportunities to affiliate with AWL Rowing from other regions (including North Carolina and Nebraska) so we invite all to reach out.

Interested athletes with intellectual impairment, disabled Veterans or youth rowers and others can use our contact form to reach out!

AWL Rowing will be participating in this annual event virtually in 2022. Check our News page for results!

From the event site: USRowing is excited to announce the continued partnership with the C.R.A.S.H.-B. Sprints World Indoor Rowing Championships for the 2022 USRowing Indoor National Championships. The event will be held February 13 and will be done virtually on Concept2 ergometers, using Time-Team’s virtual timing platform. The Time-Team platform allows all participants to compete in real time, against other competitors from around the world, from the comfort of their own home! The Time-Team platform allows for each competitor to have their erg information broadcasted live for all other competitors and spectators to see throughout each 2,000-meter race…
